These characteristic glass bottles, found in thousands, tell us a much more profane story. They contained not only balms and scented oils, but also the tears of the mourners at a funeral. The quantity of shed tears stood for the depth of grief.
Eine viel profanere Geschichte erzählen die eigenartigen Glasbehälter, die man zu Tausenden gefunden hat. Sie enthielten nicht nur Salben und Duftöle, sondern auch die Tränen der Trauergäste auf einer Beerdigung. Die Menge der vergossenen Tränenflüssigkeit stand für die Tiefe der Trauer.
