Today it is hard to imagine the revolutionary radical changes the Romans brought forth not only in architecture, state or infrastructure. Trade also boomed tremendouly thanks to a single currency. It is true that the Lydians and the Greeks had used silver coins as a means of payment already, but only the Romans turned this into a universally valid currency. Denarius and Sesterce were the then Dollars and Euros, which contributed significantly to the rise of Rome to global power.
Heute vermag man kaum noch zu erahnen, welch umwälzende Revolutionen die Römer nicht nur in Baukunst, Staatswesen und Infrastruktur vollbrachten. Auch der Handel erlebte dank einer Einheitswährung einen ungeheuren Aufschwung. Zwar hatten bereits die Lyder und die Griechen Silbermünzen als Zahlungsmittel in Verwendung, doch erst die Römer machten daraus eine überall gültige Währung. Denare und Sesterzen hießen die antiken Dollars und Euros, die wesentlich zum Aufstieg Roms zur Weltmacht beitrugen.
