The cupola of the church in Mosta Mosta, Malta is one of the biggest in the world and has an external diameter of 55m. In 1833, at the time of its construction, only St. Peter's Basilica in Rome and the church Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence had bigger ones. During World War II a bomb crashed through the ceiling whilst people attended a church service. Fortunately the bomb did not explode and no one was seriously harmed.
