, mighty castles like Saint Hilarion and Kantara and unspoiled dream beaches such as the Golden Beach accompany the traveller on his way to Cape Apostolos Andreas, the loneliest spot on the island. Byzantine church architecture and countless hiking trails await their discovery in the Troodos Mountains. Cyprus's second tourist hotspot lies around the small town of Paphos with its important ancient testimonia. A little bit further to the west lies the peninsula of Akamas, a largely untouched natural paradise of magnificent gorges and coastal formations, which can only be explored on foot, by boat or by a four wheel drive vehicle.
