The foot of the 2.003m high, active stratovolcano reaches up to the banks of the lake Lago Llanquihue Lago Llanquihue, Frutillar, Chile . In 1972 the last eruption of the volcano took place, the last major volcanic outburst, with 12 to 15m high ash clouds, occurred in 1961. For 43 years the volcano was dormant until he erupted again in April 2015.
