The official language of the country is Greenlandic, an Inuit language. It is an autochthon language and has a so-called polysynthetic structure. Very long words often stand for whole sentences. Also many of the Greenland's speech sounds are unknown in other languages. Therefore, the correct pronunciation can only be learned through listening.
Offizielle Landessprache ist Grönländisch, eine Inuit-Sprache. Sie steht vollkommen allein und hat eine sogenannte polysynthetische Struktur. Sehr lange Wörter stehen oftmals für ganze Sätze. Auch viele Laute des Grönländischen sind in anderen Sprachen unbekannt. Die korrekte Aussprache kann man daher nur durch Zuhören erlernen.
