Traditionally, during the San Fermín Festival one wears the Pamplonica-garb, that is a white shirt, white pants or skirt, a red sash and a red necktie. Nobody knows exactly what this garb goes back to, but it integrates all the people into the festival and creates a collective sense of community. The red necktie is to commemorate the martyr San Fermín, who was beheaded during the persecution of Christians in the 3rd century. The red colour stands for the blood of the saint.
Traditionellerweise trägt man während der Sanfermines die Pamplonica-Tracht, d.h., weißes Hemd, weiße Hose oder Rock, dazu eine rote Schärpe und ein rotes Halstuch. Niemand weiß genau, worauf diese Tracht zurückgeht, aber sie integriert alle Menschen in das Fest und schafft ein kollektives Gemeinschaftsgefühl. Das rote Halstuch soll an den Märtyrer San Fermin erinnern, der während der Christenverfolgungen im 3. Jahrhundert geköpft wurde. Das Rot steht für das Blut des Heiligen.
