All pilgrims were identifiable by their outfit: cape, hat, leather bag, staff and the scallop, as pilgrim badges granting admittance to the simple guesthouses of the church.
Erkennbar waren alle Jakobspilger an ihrer Ausstattung: Umhang, Hut, Lederbeutel, Stock und die Jakobsmuschel, die als Pilgerabzeichen Einlass in die schlichten kirchlichen Gästehäuser gewährte.
