Rembrandt's contemporary, Gerrit Lundens, painted a true-to-life copy of The Nightwatch in the 17th century; in 1715, the original was cut on all four sides because the original, larger dimensions did not fit into the picture's new location in the Amsterdam City Hall!.
Durch Rembrandts Zeitgenossen Gerrit Lundens wurde im 17. Jhd. eine originalgetreue Kopie der Nachtwache angefertigt; das Original wurde 1715 an allen vier Seiten beschnitten, weil das ursprüngliche, größere Format nicht zu seinem neuen Standort im Amsterdamer Rathaus passte!.
