ist eine laute Insel voll partyverrückter Urlauber und eingebildeter Promis. Aber wie durch ein Wunder konnte sie sich trotzdem noch einen Hauch griechischer Atmosphäre bewahren.
In den 1970er Jahren lockte der Ruf der Freizügigkeit, verbunden mit der Aussicht auf das süße Leben unter südlicher Sonne, die Jugend Europas nach Mykonos. Die Toleranz gegenüber gleichgeschlechtlicher Liebe war hier so groß wie kaum woanders. Heute hat sich Mykonos einen Namen als 'Insel der Reichen und Schönen' gemacht. Nirgendwo auf den Kykladen wohnt man luxuriöser, nirgendwo findet man mehr Spitzenrestaurants, nirgendwo ein aufregenderes Nachtleben. Wer Ruhe sucht, ist hier definitiv fehl am Platz. Vielmehr sollte man auf ein unerbittliches Partyleben und einen geölten Liegestuhl-Lifestyle an den überfüllten Stränden von Mykonos gefasst sein.

is a noisy island full of party-loving vacationers and conceited celebrities. But miraculously, it still managed to preserve a touch of Greek atmosphere.
In the 1970s, the call of free movement, coupled with the prospect of sweet life under the southern sun, attracted the youth of Europe to Mykonos. Here the tolerance for same-sex love was greater than anywhere else. Today, Mykonos has made a name for itself as 'the island of the rich and beautiful'. Nowhere in the Cyclades you live more luxurious, nowhere you can find more top restaurants, nowhere more exciting nightlife. If you are looking for peace, this is definitely the wrong place. Rather, one should be prepared for an inexorable party life and a deckchair lifestyle on the crowded beaches of Mykonos.
