The Aphrodite's cult lasted until the fourth century before being forbidden by the prudish Christians. But Aphrodite lived on in Cyprus. Until the 20th century, the small church on the edge of the sanctuary bore the name 'Panagia Aphroditissa'. Young mothers offered candles as sacrifices. As a protection against evil spirits the church is wrapped with strings.
Der Aphrodite Kult bestand bis ins 4. Jahrhundert, bevor er von den prüden Christen verboten wurde. Doch Aphrodite lebte auf Zypern weiter. Noch bis ins 20. Jahrhundert trug die kleine Kirche am Rand des Heiligtums den Namen Panagia Aphroditissa. Junge Mütter brachten Kerzen als Opfergaben dar. Zur Abwehr von bösen Geistern ist das Gotteshaus mit Schnüren umwickelt.
