Is it a cathedral or a mosque or maybe both? Built in the 13th century as the Cathedral of Saint Sophia in Gothic style, the church served the French House of Lusignan as a coronation church. 350 years later, the Ottomans turned the building into their main mosque and substituted its church towers with minarets.
Kathedrale oder Moschee oder gar beides ? Im 13. Jahrhundert als Sophienkathedrale in gotischem Stil errichtet, diente das Gotteshaus den fränkischen Lusignans als Krönungskirche. 350 Jahre später machten die Osmanen das Bauwerk zu ihrer Hauptmoschee und ersetzten die Kirchentürme durch Minarette.
