Similarly palatial is the House of Kornesios from the 18th century. Under Ottoman rule the man of the house held the office of a dragoman. He was, therefore, the highest secular representative of Cyprian Christians against the Turkish Sultan and at the same time his tax collector. This promised great prosperity, but also many dangers. And indeed, Kornesios paid for the job with his life. An intrigue lead to his public decapitation.

Nicht weniger feudal präsentiert sich das Haus des Kornesios aus dem 18. Jahrhundert. Unter osmanischer Herrschaft hatte der Hausherr das Amt eines Dragomans inne. Er war damit oberster weltlicher Vertreter der Christen Zyperns gegenüber dem türkischen Sultan und zugleich dessen Steuereintreiber. Das versprach großen Wohlstand, aber auch viele Gefahren. Und tatsächlich bezahlte Kornesios den Job mit seinem Leben. Nach einer Intrige folgte seine öffentliche Enthauptung.
