Direkt zu Füßen der Kathedrale breitet sich das römische Forum aus. Im Norden wird der ehemalige Markt- und Versammlungsplatz von der Donatuskirche begrenzt. Der Rundbau aus dem 9. Jahrhundert bildet ein einmaliges Beispiel altkroatisch-byzantinischer Architektur. Er diente als gar nicht so bescheidene Hauskapelle von Bischof Donatus. Im Inneren besticht die Kirche durch ihre schlichte Architektur unter einer 27 m hohen Holzkuppel. Die phänomenale Akustik wird noch heute regelmäßig für Konzerte genutzt.

At the foot of the cathedral, the Roman Forum spreads. In the north, the former market and meeting place is limited by the Donatus church. The 9th-century rotunda is a unique example of old Croatian-Byzantine architecture. It served as the not so modest chapel of Bishop Donatus. Inside, the church stands out for its simple architecture under a 27-meter-high wooden dome. The phenomenal acoustics are still regularly used for concerts today.
