From the upper town Pinara's biggest attraction become the focus of attention. Like honeycombs, 900 tombs are interspersed on a 450 m high rock face. For the construction of these tombs, rope ladders and hanging scaffolds were lowered from above. It is hard to imagine what dangers and troubles people undertook here 2600 years ago to secure their deceased a place as close to heaven as possible.
Von der Oberstadt öffnet sich der Blick auf Pinaras größte Attraktion. Wie Bienenwaben durchsetzen 900 Gräber eine 450 m hohe Felswand. Zum Bau dieser Totenhäuser wurden Strickleitern und Hängegerüste von oben herabgelassen. Kaum vorstellbar, welche Gefahren und Mühen die Menschen hier vor 2600 Jahren auf sich genommen haben, um ihren Verstorbenen einen Platz möglichst nahe am Himmel zu sichern.
