Due to its location of the fortified mountain town and a subtle diplomacy Termessos was spared from foreign rule as long as it existed. The city was defeated only in the 3rd century by an earthquake. Therefore, there is almost nothing left of the magnificent temples, the public buildings and market halls.
Die Lage der befestigten Bergstadt und eine schlaue Diplomatie hatten Termessos Zeit ihres Lebens von Fremdherrschaften verschont. Besiegt wurde die Stadt erst im 3 Jh. durch ein Erdbeben. Daher ist von den prachtvollen Tempelanlagen, den öffentlichen Gebäuden und Markthallen kaum noch etwas zu sehen.
