Overshadowed by the Tien-Shan lies the Issyk-Kol Issyk-Kol, Kyrgyzstan , the world's second largest mountain lake. A largely unknown country covers this area: Kyrgyzstan. Even the exact specification of the state is unclear: Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and Kyrgyzstan are common names. The state of approximately 200,000 km² with its five and a half million inhabitants receives its visitors touristically not perfect, but all the more affectionately. The Silk Road also changed the lives of the inhabitants permanently. In previous times, the steppe people of the Scyths, the Usuns and the Huns ruled the country. In the eighth century the tide was turning. The Turkic people of the Kyrgyz, who had immigrated from Siberia, founded a powerful empire. The rule of the so-called Kara-Khanids lasted until the 12th century, before the country was under Mongol rule for more than 500 years.
