Numerous craft enterprises have specialized in the production of yurts. The size of the habitation depends on the number of the poles supporting the dome-shaped roof. As a protection against wind, rain, snow and cold, the wooden frame of the yurt is covered with several layers of cotton and felt textiles. Usually, the tent has a crown height of 3 meters with a floor area of about 20 square meters. Inside, the nomads' house is decorated with colourful carpets and woven ribbons stabilizing the slat construction additionally. A yurt can be set up and dismantled in less than an hour and is packaged so small that two camels or three horses are sufficient for its transport.
Zahlreiche Handwerksbetriebe haben sich auf die Herstellung von Jurten spezialisiert. Die Größe der Behausung hängt von der Zahl der Stangen ab, die das kuppelförmige Dach tragen. Zum Schutz vor Wind, Regen, Schnee und Kälte wird das Holzgerüst der Jurte mit mehreren Lagen aus Baumwoll- und Filztextilien eingedeckt. Üblicherweise hat das Zelt eine Scheitelhöhe von 3 Metern bei einer Grundfläche von rund 20 Quadratmetern. Im Inneren ist die Nomadenbehausung mit bunten Teppichen und gewebten Bändern geschmückt, die die Lattenkonstruktion zusätzlich stabilisieren. Eine Jurte lässt sich in weniger als einer Stunde auf- und abbauen und wird so klein verpackt, dass für ihren Transport zwei Kamele oder drei Pferde ausreichen.
