Ein schützender Pinienwald umgibt das bedeutendste hinduistische Heiligtum des Kullu-Tals, der Hadimba-Devi-Tempel aus dem 16. Jahrhundert. Das indische Epos Mahabharata berichtet vom heldenhaften Bhima, der an dieser Stelle einen kannibalischen Dämonen besiegt hatte und daraufhin dessen Tochter Hadimba zu seiner Gemahlin nahm. Ihr gilt seither höchste Verehrung, denn als Inkarnation der furchterregenden Göttin Kali hält sie Dämonen und Unglück vom Menschen fern.
A protective pine forest surrounds the most important Hindu sanctuary of the Kullu Valley, the 16th century Hadimba Devi Temple. The Indian epic Mahabharata tells of the heroic Bhima, who had defeated a cannibal demon at this point and then took his daughter Hadimba to his wife. Since then, she has been the highest worshiper, for as the incarnation of the fearsome goddess Kali, she keeps demons and misfortune away from humans.
