The Río Loa has its source in the Andes and crosses the country to empty into the Pacific Ocean. With a length of 443km it is the longest river in Chile. It is the only river crossing the Atacama Desert which does not evaporate.

Der Río Loa entspringt in den Anden und fließt dann weiter Richtung Pazifischen Ozean. Mit einer Länge von 443km ist er der längste Fluss Chiles. Er ist auch der einzige Fluss der die Atacamawüste durchquert ohne dabei vollständig zu verdunsten.
