South of the High Atlas, widespread stone and gravel deserts dominate the landscape. The hostile environment would scarcely offer humans any survival odds, were it not for the numerous rivers that, fed by rain and snowfall in the Atlas, reach far into the desert creating fertile oasis landscapes. The Draa River is one of the most valuable givers of life there. For more than 100 km, between Agzd Agzd, Morocco and Zagora Zagora, Morocco , date palms and kasbahs line up like pearls on a string. All this blends into an oriental fantasy, disconnected from reality.
