Together with a temple dedicated to Jupiter, the Capitol was the ritual centre of the city. Here the supreme deity of the Romans received homages and the offerings of animals, plants and food. In doing so, a certain ritual had to be carefully observed, since every mistake would provoke the wrath of the deity. Already a slip of the tongue in the text was enough to conjure up dangers.
Das Kapitol bildete mit einem Jupiter geweihten Tempel das kultische Zentrum der Stadt. Hier empfing der oberste Gott der Römer Huldigungen und Opfergaben aus Tieren, Pflanzen und Nahrungsmitteln. Dabei musste der Ritus genau beachtet werden, da jeder Fehler den Zorn der Gottheit hervorrufen würde. Bereits ein Versprecher im Text reichte aus, um Gefahren heraufzubeschwören.
