Jarlshof#

A new kind of structure, called wheelhouse, was introduced at Jarlshof Jarlshof Prehistoric and Norse Settlement, Shetland, ... in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. As the name implies the building was a round house with its roof supported by radial piers, which were arranged like the spokes of a wheel.
