During the First World War, many European aristocrats took refuge in the city. San Sebastian developed into the cosmopolitan center of Europe. In the then famous Casino personalities as Mata Hari, Leon Trotsky and Maurice Ravel mxed. So the Belle Epoque lasted a little bit longer here than elsewhere.
Im Verlauf des Ersten Weltkrieges suchten viele europäische Aristokraten Zuflucht in der Stadt. San Sebastian entfaltete sich zum kosmopolitischen Zentrum Europas. Im damals berühmten Casino verkehrten Persönlichkeiten wie Mata Hari, Leo Trotzki und Maurice Ravel. So dauerte die Belle Epoque hier noch etwas länger als anderswo.
