"To be a bullfighter, you must first learn to be a bull." However, this Spanish proverb says nothing about whether one should also feel like a bull in the arena. Then there would probably be no matador anymore in Spain. But many Spaniards consider the questionable spectacle as cultural property worth protecting, which they would like to see in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Although now a majority turns from this bloody ritual of masculinity - nevetheless the masses get exited and nowhere the euphoria is higher than during the Festival of San Fermín in Pamplona. In the mornings, bullfights with young bulls are held for children and the faint-hearted. They are only irritated, but not killed.
„Um Stierkämpfer zu werden, muss man erst lernen, ein Stier zu sein.“ Dieses spanische Sprichwort sagt jedoch nichts darüber aus, ob man sich auch so fühlen sollte wie ein Stier in der Arena. Dann gäbe es vermutlich keinen Torero mehr in ganz Spanien. Doch das fragwürdige Schauspiel betrachten viele Spanier als schützenswertes Kulturgut, das man gerne in der UNESCO-Welterbeliste sehen möchte. Auch wenn sich mittlerweile eine Mehrheit von dem blutigen Männlichkeitsritual abwendet – die Massen lassen sich trotzdem begeistern und nirgendwo ist die Euphorie größer als während der Sanfermines in Pamplona. Für Kinder und Zartbesaitete finden vormittags Stierkämpfe mit Jungtieren statt. Sie werden nur gereizt, aber nicht getötet.
