As one of the main stops on the Way of St. James the monastery Santo Domingo de la Calzada adorns itself with the epithet "Compostela of La Rioja". The monastery is sanctified to Saint Dominic, a hermit who lived in the 11th century and who found his calling in the support and care of pilgrims: He built hospices, bridges and paths and went down in history as the kind soul of the Way of St. James.
Als eine der wichtigsten Stationen auf dem Jakobsweg schmückt sich das Kloster Santo Domingo de la Calzada gerne mit dem Beinamen „Compostela der Rioja“. Es ist dem heiligen Domingo geweiht, einem Eremiten aus dem 11. Jahrhundert, der in der Pilgerbetreuung seine Lebensaufgabe fand: Er baute Hospize, Brücken und Wege und ging so als gute Seele des Jakobsweges in die Geschichte ein.
