Cáceres, an important bulwark of the Moors, was fiercely contested during the Reconquista. The Christian Knights of the Order of Santiago finally succeeded in the reconquest. Remunerated with lands by the King in return, they invested their wealth in fashionable palaces, of which Cáceres is so full of.
Cáceres, ein wichtiges Bollwerk der Mauren, war während der Reconquista besonders umkämpft. Den christlichen Rittern des Santiago-Ordens gelang schließlich die Rückeroberung. Vom König dafür mit Ländereien beschenkt, investierten sie ihren Reichtum in mondäne Adelspaläste, von denen Cáceres nur so strotzt.
