Burgos Spain, Burgos - that's Castile at its finest. In the 10th century Count Gonzales constituted the trading town the center of his territory. During the Reconquista the territory expanded constantly and eventually became the Kingdom of Castile. Only two years later it united with the Kingdom of Leon and therefore Burgos became the capital of Christian Spain, until in 1085 Toledo Spain, Toledo ascended to the new seat of power. However, Burgos remained the coronation city of the kings. Economy flourished, pilgrims came in flocks and a lucrative trade with merino wool provided a considerable wealth, which traders, merchants and aristocrats invested in the building of magnificent palaces and monasteries.

Burgos Spanien, Burgos - das ist Kastilien in Reinkultur. Graf Gonzales machte die Handelsstadt im 10. Jahrhundert zum Zentrum seines Herrschaftsgebietes. Im Zuge der Reconquista dehnte sich das Territorium beständig aus und wurde schließlich zum Königreich Kastilien. Nur zwei Jahre später erfolgte die Vereinigung mit dem Königreich Leon und somit war Burgos Hauptstadt des christlichen Spaniens, bis 1085 Toledo Spanien, Toledo zur neuen Machtzentrale aufstieg. Burgos blieb jedoch Krönungsstadt der Könige. Die Wirtschaft florierte, die Pilger kamen in Scharen und ein lukrativer Handel mit Merinowolle sorgte für einen beachtlichen Reichtum, den Händler, Kaufleute und Adelige in den Bau prachtvoller Paläste und Klöster investierten.
