The remoted desert landscape of the Bardenas Reales opens. You almost believe to hear the hoofbeats of the Magnificent Seven in the distance. Actually, the scenery already served as a set for many a Western. It all started several million years ago with the drying up of a shallow lake. In the course of time rain, wind and frost created a bizarre lunar landscape of canyons, plateaus and occasional hills from the clay and sandy soil, many-colored by numerous minerals.
Einsam öffnet sich die Wüstenlandschaft der Bardenas Reales. In der Ferne glaubt man schon die Hufschläge der Glorreichen Sieben zu hören. Die Szenerie diente tatsächlich schon so manchem Western als Kulisse. Alles begann vor mehreren Millionen Jahren mit der Austrocknung eines flachen Sees. Im Laufe der Zeit schufen Regen, Wind und Frost aus dem Lehm- und Sandboden eine bizarre Mondlandschaft voller Schluchten, Hochebenen und vereinzelter Hügel – bunt gefärbt von zahlreichen Mineralien.
