In the Middle Age, fishery and a flourishing cork industry contributed significantly to the wealth of the city. Houses and stairs built of stone stood the test of time. They show that, at least in Tossa, the difficult balancing act between mass tourism and the protection of historic buildings and monuments has been successful to some degree.
Fischerei und eine florierende Korkindustrie trugen im Mittelalter wesentlich zum Reichtum der Stadt bei. Häuser und Treppen aus Naturstein haben schon viele Jahrhunderte überstanden. Sie zeigen, dass zumindest in Tossa die schwierige Gratwanderung zwischen Massentourismus und Denkmalschutz einigermaßen gelungen ist.
