The Holmenkollen, a 371 meter high mountain in the north-west of the city,
has long been used as a sports center for recreational and, above all,
professional sportsmen and was, among other things,
already several times the venue of the Nordic ski world championships.
The Holmenkollbakken is the oldest ski jumping hill in the world
and is the most visited tourist attraction of Oslo.
Fridtjof Nansen, born in 1861 near Oslo, was a Norwegian zoologist,
neurohistologist, oceanographer, diplomat and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize,
but, above all that he was a polar explorer.
Der Holmenkollen, ein 371 Meter hoher Berg im Nordwesten der Stadt, wird seit langer Zeit als Sportstätte für Freizeit- und vor allem Profisportler genutzt und war u.a. schon mehrfach Austragungsort der Nordischen Schiweltmeisterschaften. Der Holmenkollbakken gilt als die älteste Skisprungschanze der Welt und ist die meistbesuchte Touristenattraktion Oslos.
Fridtjof Nansen, geboren 1861 in der Nähe von Oslo, war ein norwegischer Zoologe, Neurohistologe, Ozeanograf, Diplomat und Friedensnobelpreisträger, der aber vor allem als Polarforscher in die Geschichte eingegangen ist.
