On the other side of the market square, opposite the town hall, stands the late Gothic Nieuwe Kerk, one of the largest churches in the Netherlands. Its west tower with its 109 metres is the second highest in the country. A town fire had destroyed the then still wooden spire of the Nieuwe Kerk in 1536. More than 40 members of the Dutch royal family are buried here.
Am Marktplatz, gegenüber dem Rathaus, steht auch die spätgotische Nieuwe Kerk, eine der größten Kirchen der Niederlande. Ihr Westturm ist mit 109 Metern Höhe der zweithöchste des Landes, ein Stadtbrand hatte die damals noch hölzerne Turmspitze der Nieuwe Kerk im Jahre 1536 zerstört. Über 40 Angehörige des niederländischen Königshauses sind hier beigesetzt.
