Specchia Mianos#

In manchen Olivenhainen türmen sich eigenartige, bis zu 11 m hohe Steinhaufen, sogenannte Specchia Mianos. Archäologen ordnen sie der Megalithära vor etwa 5000 Jahren zu. Ihre Bedeutung liegt vollkommen im Dunklen. Vielleicht haben sie als Grab gedient, vielleicht aber auch als Verteidigungsanlage oder Beobachtungsposten.
In some olive groves peculiar, up to 11 m high cairns pile up, so-called Specchia Mianos. Archaeologists allocate it to the megalithic era about 5,000 years ago. Their meaning is completely obscure. Perhaps they served as graves, or perhaps as defensive fortifications or as observation posts.
