Wenn die Fastenzeit beginnt, empfängt Locorotondo die Besucher mit schwarz gekleideten Hexen. Die Spindel in der Hand steht für Abstinenz und Genügsamkeit. Am Ostersonntag werden die Puppen verbrannt – als symbolischer Akt, um die Auferstehung Christi zu feiern.

welcomes its visitors with witches in black. The spindle in its hand stands for abstinence and modesty. On Easter Sunday, the puppets are burned - as a symbolic act to celebrate the resurrection of Christ.
