Der Titel für das ungewöhnlichsten Gotteshauses der Stadt gebührt der Chiesa San Giovanni. Die Maße der Kirche entsprechen jener der Grabeskirche in Jerusalem. Deshalb vermuten Historiker, dass sie von den Normannen für jene Pilger errichtet wurde, die nicht selbst bis ins Heilige Land reisen konnten. Mitte des 13. Jahrhunderts fiel sie an den Templerorden.
The title to be the 'most unusual church of the city' goes to the Chiesa San Giovanni. The dimensions of the church correspond to those of the Church of the Resurrection in Jerusalem. Therefore, historians presume that it was built by the Normans for those pilgrims who could not travel to the Holy Land themselves. In the middle of the 13th century it passed to the Order of the Temple.
