Dass Apulien trotz seiner geologischen Nachteile mit blühenden Landschaften begeistert, ist dem Ingenieur Camillo Rosalba zu verdanken. Er entwickelte 1867 die Idee, Apulien mittels eines Aquädukts aus dem Norden mit Wasser zu versorgen. Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts war das Bauprojekt abgeschlossen. Seitdem durchzieht ein 20.000 km langes Kanalsystem die Provinz.
The fact that Apulia, despite its geological disadvantages delights with its green pastures, is due to the engineer Camillo Rosalba. In 1867 he came up with the idea of supplying Puglia with water by means of an aqueduct from the north. At the beginning of the 20th century, the construction project was completed. Since then, a 20,000 km long channel system crosses the province.
