To this day, the image of a sleepy spa town frets Merano, or, as the South Tyrolean poet Norbert Kaser puts it: 'You are a good Federal German home for the elderly, such a small-boned bride of the South and yet a retiree ...' But graffitis, fancy boutiques and modern art are trying to rejuvenate its good name.
Bis heute kaut Meran an seinem verschlafenen Kurstadt-Image, oder wie es der Südtiroler Dichter Norbert Kaser ausdrückt: “Du gutes bundesdeutsches Altersheim, du feingliedrige Braut des Südens und schon Rentnerin …“ Mit Graffitis, Nobelboutiqen und moderner Kunst versucht man, seinen Ruf etwas zu verjüngen.
