Veroli Veroli, Italy once a Roman municipium, became the seat of a bishopric in the 8th century and was occupied by the Spaniars lateron. The town retains parts of its ancient polygonal nucleus, especially near the summit of the hill, where lateron a medieval castle was built. The Cathedral's treasury contains the breviary of St. Louis of Toulouse and some interesting reliquaries. About 10 km in the south-east of Veroli the Gothic Abbey of Casamari, the birthplace of Caius Marius, can be visited. Its heyday in the 12th century was followed by its decline in the 14th century. In 1623, when establishing the Roman Cistercian Congregation, only eight monks still lived at the monastery.

Veroli Veroli, Italien einst römisches Municipium, wurde im 8. Jahrhundert zum Bistumsitz erklärt und später von Spaniern besetzt. In der Stadt sind Teile des alten polygonalen Kerns erhalten, vor allem in der Nähe des Hügels, auf dem später eine mittelalterliche Burg gebaut wurde. Die Schatzkammer der Kathedrale enthält das Brevier von St. Louis von Toulouse und einige interessante Reliquien. Etwa 10 km im Südosten von Veroli kann die gotische Abtei von Casamari, Geburtsort von Caius Marius, besichtigt werden. Ihrer Blütezeit im 12. Jahrhundert folgte der Niedergang im 14. Jahrhundert. Im Jahre 1623, bei der Gründung der römischen Zisterzienserkongregation, lebten nur noch acht Mönche im Kloster.
