The name of the town Cassino Cassino, Italy is in general known for the fierce fighting in the so-called Battles of Monte Cassino in World War II when on 15 February 1944 the Abbey was destroyed by a heavy aerial bombardment. Founded in 529, the Abbey of Monte Cassino is one of the most famous monasteries in the world and is the place of origin of the Benedictine Order.
Der Name der Stadt Cassino Cassino, Italien ist in der Regel für die heftigen Kämpfe während der sogenannten Schlacht von Monte Cassino im Zweiten Weltkrieg bekannt, bei der am 15. Februar 1944 die Abtei bei einem schweren Luftangriff zerstört wurde. Im Jahre 529 wurde in der Abtei von Monte Cassino, die als eines der berühmtesten Klöster der Welt gilt, der Benediktinerorden gegründet.
