Der Strom der Gläubigen riss zwar nicht gänzlich ab, doch ins nur 20 km entfernte San Giovanni Rotondo kamen plötzlich viel mehr Pilger. Auch die Kommerzialisierung kennt keine Grenzen, weshalb der Ort den wenig schmeichelhaften Beinamen 'Las Vegas des Glaubens' erhielt. Es gibt zahlreiche Pio-Magazine, einen nationalen Pio-Radiosender und sogar ein Pio-TV.
It was in the year of 1968, when Monte Sant'Angelo suddenly got a serious rival. Although the stream of the faithful did not quite break off, but suddenly many more pilgrims went to San Giovanni Rotondo, only 20 km away. The commercialization knows no limits, which is why the place was given the unflattering byname 'Las Vegas of the Faith'. There are numerous Pio magazines, a national Pio radio station and even a Pio TV.
