Das 30 m durchmessende Staigue Fort Staigue Fort, Ireland ist sicherlich das imposanteste Ringfort der Iveragh Peninsula und wird von 4 m dicken und 6 m hohen Trockenmauern eingefasst. Es ist etwa 2500 Jahre alt. Die Monumentalität der Anlage lässt vermuten, dass es sich wohl um einen Fürstensitz gehandelt haben muss. Sicher wissen wir es nicht. Vielleicht war Staigue auch eine Schutzburg für Mensch und Vieh während eines Angriffs oder ein kultischer Ritualplatz.

The 30 m diameter Staigue Fort Staigue Fort, Ireland is the most impressing ring fort of the Iveragh Peninsula and has 4 m thick and 6 m high dry walls. It is about 2500 years old. The monumentality of the fort lets assume that it was a princely residence. It is not known for sure. Maybe it was only a protective fortress for people and cattle during an attack or a cultic ritual site.
