Das von den Römern geprägte Geschichtsbild stellt die Kelten einseitig als barbarisches Volk dar. Erst nach und nach entdeckt die Wissenschaft, dass in der rauen Schale der Kelten ein erstaunlich kunstsinniges Herz steckte. Als Beweis dienen u.a. die prachtvollen Hochkreuze von Clonmacnoise.
The conception of history shaped by the Romans portrays the Celts unilaterally as a barbarian people. Only little by little does science discover that in the rough shell of the Celts there was an astonishingly art-loving heart. Among other things, the magnificent high crosses of Clonmacnoise can serve as proof.
