Der einstige Reichtum Kilkennys – immerhin war der Ort Mitte des 17. Jahrhunderts für einige Jahre sogar Hauptstadt Irlands – lässt sich an der überdimensionalen Kathedrale ablesen. Der frühgotische Bau aus dem 13. Jahrhundert diente einigen Grafen aus der Familie Butler als letzte Ruhestätte.
The former wealth of Kilkenny - it was even capital of Ireland in the middle of the 17th century - can be seen by looking at the oversized cathedral. The early gothic building from the 13th century houses some graves of the Earls of the Butler family.
