A protected harbour and rich fishing grounds make Isafjördur
Isafjördur, Iceland
by far the largest metropolis in the Westfjords with almost 3,000 inhabitants. Even today this part of Iceland is sometimes cut off for weeks from the rest of the country in winter. Heavy snowfall and tremendous avalanches make the roads impassable.

zur mit Abstand größten Metropole der Westfjorde mit knapp 3000 Einwohnern. Auch heute noch ist dieser Teil Islands im Winter manchmal wochenlang vom Rest des Landes abgeschnitten. Starke Schneefälle und mächtige Lawinen machen die Straßen unpassierbar.
