The poor soils and the harsh climate od Iceland hardly allow any agriculture. The lush green meadows suit at the most as grazing land for sheep and the famous Iceland horses. In earlier times, a life without a horse as a means of transport and pack animal would have been unthinkable. Down to the present day, the robust, winterproof and sure-footed Iceland horse is treasured as a particularly loyal soul. It masters 5 paces, including the almost vibration-free 'Tölt'. The breeding laws are so strict that animals, once exported, may never return to the island again, even if it was only for a single tournament.
