In the volcanically active areas, minerals stain the landscape in all colours of the rainbow. Iron oxides are responsible for red. The white color harks back to silicic acid or gypsum. The yellow shades come from the sulfur. Special chemical compounds of iron and sulfur produce the grey-blue colours of the boiling mud springs.
In den vulkanisch aktiven Zonen färben Mineralien die Landschaft bunt. Für Rot zeichnen Eisenoxide verantwortlich. Die weiße Farbe geht auf Kieselsäure oder Gips zurück. Gelbtöne kommen vom Schwefel. Spezielle chemische Verbindungen aus Eisen und Schwefel erzeugen die graublaue Farbtönung der kochenden Schlammquellen.
