The shallow, barely 5 m deep Myvatn lake Myvatn, Iceland spreads in one of the most active volcanic areas of Iceland. However, only those visitors are aware what actually awaits them on the idyllic shores of the lake who took the trouble of a translation of the harmless sounding name: Myvatn means "Mosquito Lake". After only a few seconds you are surrounded by thousands of pests. Only the females sting, but that is enough to make the stay a dubious pleasure.

Der flache, kaum 5 m tiefe Myvatn-See Myvatn, Iceland breitet sich in einer der vulkanisch aktivsten Zonen Islands aus. Was den Besucher am idyllischen Seeufer jedoch tatsächlich erwartet, weiß nur, wer sich vorher um eine Übersetzung des harmlos klingenden Namens bemüht hat: Myvatn bedeutet „Mückensee“. Schon nach wenigen Sekunden ist man von tausenden Plagegeistern umringt. Nur die Weibchen stechen, aber das genügt, um den Aufenthalt zum zweifelhaften Vergnügen zu machen.
