Das kretische Nationalgetränk ist der Raki, ein süßlicher Tresterschnaps. Er wird bei jeder Gelegenheit angeboten. Hausweine kommen üblicherweise vom Fass und schmecken in jedem Dorf anders. Meist trinkt man jedoch Wasser zum Essen und rundet das Mahl mit einem griechischen Kaffee, einem starken Mokka, ab.
The cretan national drink is Raki, a sweet pomace brandy. It is offered at any chance. House wines usually are stored in a barrel and taste different in every village. Mostly the people drink water to the meal and after it they often drink greek coffee, a strong mocha.
