Die 1400 Jahre alte Panagia Drossiani gehört zu den am meisten verehrten Kirchen der Kykladen. Im Inneren sind noch einige Fresken aus der Zeit vor dem Bildersturm erhalten. Anfang des 8. Jahrhunderts ließ der byzantinische Kaiser Leon unzählige Wandmalereien und Ikonen zerstören, weil die übermäßige Bilderverehrung dem Klerus damals ein Dorn im Auge war.
The 1400-year-old Panagia Drossiani is one of the most revered churches in the Cyclades. Inside some frescoes dating back to the time before the iconoclasm are still preserved. At the beginning of the eighth century, the Byzantine Emperor Leon destroyed innumerable wall paintings and icons, because the excessive worship of the pictures was a thorn in the side of the clergy.
