Where today the crypt is located, a hermit named Luke founded the monastery in the 10th century. Valuable icons decorate the walls. But Osios Lukas is
most famous for its magnificent gold mosaics that have an age of approximately 1,000 years.
Dort, wo sich heute die Krypta befindet, hatte ein Eremit namens Lukas das Kloster im 10. Jahrhundert gegründet. Wertvolle Ikonen schmücken die Wände. Berühmt ist Osios Lukas jedoch für seine prachtvollen Goldmosaike, die ein Alter von annähernd 1000 Jahren aufweisen.
